Oversized Putter Grip
Oversized Putter Grip — 31mm Soft-Touch PU
Most missed putts inside two metres come from the hands, not the stroke. An oversized putter grip fills the palms and takes the wrists largely out of the motion, which is why so many tour players moved to them. This 31mm jumbo putter grip uses a soft-touch PU surface that stays tacky in humidity and holds through a full round without needing a glove.
The flat front face gives you a consistent reference for squaring the putter at address, while the curved back sits naturally in the palms and encourages a repeatable pendulum motion. At 270mm long it suits standard-length putters and allows a range of hand positions. Redback Sport is Australian-owned and has supplied golfers, pro shops and courses since 2003.
The reason a fat putter grip works is mechanical rather than psychological. A thicker grip reduces the amount your fingers can wrap around the shaft, which limits wrist hinge through the stroke. Less wrist movement means fewer ways for the face to twist at impact, and face angle is what determines direction on a putt.
The flat front is doing a second job. Because it presents a defined plane rather than a round surface, your hands find the same position every time you take your stance — which makes alignment repeatable rather than something you have to think about over the ball.
Soft-touch PU is the practical choice for Australian conditions. Rubber grips go slick in humidity and harden over a few seasons in the sun; PU holds its tack in heat and damp, and stays comfortable without a glove. Most golfers putt bare-handed, which makes grip feel more important on the putter than on any other club.
The colour tells you the size. Our putter grip range runs green for oversized, red for midsize and blue for standard, so you can identify the right one instantly on a rack or in a bag. Oversized suits players wanting maximum wrist stability, midsize sits between the two, and standard is the traditional profile for golfers who prefer more feel in the hands.
A golf putter grip replacement is also one of the cheapest genuine upgrades available. A new grip costs a fraction of a new putter and often changes the feel more than the head would. If your current grip is glazed, hardened or worn shiny at the thumb, it is affecting your stroke whether you notice it or not.
